The Jazzitup Kids Method
Children love stories. Jazzitup Kids consists of 9o+ stories, based on the adventures of our protaginist, Jazzy the Juggler and a host of colourful characters.
Jazzy is a magical, mischievous hero, who engages, interacts and learns alongside the kids, together with a vast array of colourful characters, encouraging children to communicate in English.
Children are introduced to a new story theme through 'active story-telling' to engage children in understanding each story plot, setting and characters. Our Actor/Teachers use role play, story boards, puppets and costumes, followed by reading the story script and the language in more detail. The children then get up and act out each story.
Specific themed darma games and activities are offered to the children to consolidate target language. In this way, we encourage active participation, public speaking and performance skills.
At the end of each week, we invite parents to watch an informal workshop performance - a medley of the stories the kids have worked on that week.
We teach kids within a no-pressure context in which to enjoy learning, sharing and expressing themselves, according to their abilities. Children are able to interact in a spontaneous and natural way in a creative environment, turning the language learning process into a subliminal fun experience.
Acting & Public Speaking
The stories are scripted for role-playing. Children are encouraged to recreate themselves as characters and perform, interacting with Jazzy the Juggler and all the other colourful characters. This improvisation and play-acting as a group reinforces confidence in oral communication and fluency and structures the children’s language responses with focus on pronunciation, phonics and articulation.
Singing
Jazzitup Kids' songs help children learn the target vocabulary and grammar structures, which are gradually introduced through the lyrics of each song script. The lyrics of the songs reinforce the English language elements through constant repetition and make learning words memorable and fun.
Movement
Movement, body language and basic choreography are a fundamental part of Active Storytelling for the children who are learning through play.
We use large pieces of coloured materials, puppets, percussion and props made by the children to create Jazzy’s world to move around in.
Workbook projects
Each age level has its own set and range of workbooks that include a story, script, illustrated story comprehension and age appropriate activities. Each workbook has a set theme, sets of characters, setting, vocabulary, grammar and English language learning objectives. We also draw, design, make masks, props and costumes used for our weekly workshop performances.
